Motorola X rumored to have Sapphire Glass screen

Motorola X will have a 4.8 inch screen, made of sapphire glass, said to be three times harder to crack than Gorilla Glass. The corners will be made with rubber bumpers and the back will be made of carbon fiber. Under the hood will be a quad-core 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and a 4,000mAh battery provides all-day power. The device will be water resistant and will launch in November, in time for the holidays. Sounds nice, but we need to take this with our proverbial grain of salt.
If there is legitimacy to this rumor, the Motorola X could certainly compete and even surpass the U.S. version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 on some levels. If this does have a Full HD panel, it will have a higher pixel density than the nearly 5 inch FHD screen on the S4 and the Motorola X would have superior silicon. As we pointed out though, this is all conjecture for now, a fun parlor game for the adults to play after the kiddies have fallen asleep.

Researchers create fiber network that operates at 99.7% speed of light, smashes speed and latency records

Researchers at the University of Southampton in England have produced optical fibers that can transfer data at 99.7% of the universe’s speed limit: The speed of light. The researchers have used these new optical fibers to transfer data at 73.7 terabits per second — roughly 10 terabytes per second, and some 1,000 times faster than today’s state-of-the-art 40-gigabit fiber optic links, and at much lower latency. The speed of light in a vacuum is 299,792,458 meters per second, or 186,282 miles per second. In any other medium, though, it’s generally a lot slower. In normal optical fibers (silica glass), light travels a full 31% slower. Light actually

1 minute on the internet???

Have you wondered how much data is transferred on the internet in one minute?, how many people are online? how many emails are sent?
well here they are: An infographic by Intel breaks down exactly what happens online in just one minute and the numbers truly boggle the mind.
In just 60 seconds, nearly 640 terabytes of IP data is transferred across the globe. Intel then breaks that number down into every day activities and recognizable websites.
A major contributor to that data, Google, will have answered (or at least tried to answer) more than two million search queries during that single, minute-long slice of time. Meanwhile, its YouTube video service will have served up roughly 1.3 million videos while simultaneously digesting about 30 hours worth of uploaded video destined for public consumption.
Also in an Internet minute, Amazon rakes in around $83,000 in sales while 20 unfortunate souls will fall prey to identify thieves.
Over six million Facebook views will have been made and 100,000 Tweets posted, but venerable old-school e-mail is still the most happening method of keeping in touch. A whopping 204 million e-mails being sent out every minute. Even though about 150 million of those are probably spam, that's still a lot of messages packed into 60 seconds.

Twitter clocks 7 with more than 200 million users

Seven years ago today, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey sent out his very first tweet which signaled the official launch of the microblogging website. Today Twitter is a global phenomenon with more than 200 million users worldwide responsible for pushing some 400 million tweets each day. To say the site has come a long way would be the understatement of the year.
The social networking site has had countless milestones over the past seven years. The idea for the hashtag came about in 2007 courtesy of Chris Messina and was first used in a high-profile instance by California resident Nate Ritter to chronicle his frequent posts about the October 2007 wildfires in San Diego County. We also witness the first retweet that same year.Oprah Winfrey famously joined the site in 2009 and just a year later, Mike Massimino sent the first ever tweet from space. In 2010, the World Cup helped to unite a global audience and in 2011, the service was instrumental during the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami that slammed into Japan. Just last year, Twitter was a driving force behind the summer Olympic games in London, the Grammys and even President Barack Obama’s re-election.
In a post on the company’s blog celebrating the occasion, editorial director Karen Wickre said the site has become a true global town square – a public place to hear the latest news, exchange ideas and connect with people in real time. It’s where you come to connect with the world at large.

How to Increase Download Speed

Tips on how to increase you download speeds just a little more than usual
-1 Check with your Internet service provider about Internet connection options. The speed of your Internet connection is the most significant variable to your download speed. If you have dial-up Internet access, consider upgrading to a Direct Service Line (DSL) or a cable connection. Even if you already have cable, your Internet service provider may have faster cable services available.
-2 Understand a fast connection. Connection speed is measured by the amount of data that can be transferred per second, usually kilobits per second (Kbps) or megabits per second (Mbps). There are 1024 kilobits in one megabit. Most dial-up connections are 56 Kbps, while cable can be as fast as 20 Mbps. When you contact your Internet service provider, they should be able to tell you the speed of their connections.
-3 Close any open programs you do no need when downloading. This will free up your computer's resources to better handle the data transfer. If possible, have your computer download the files you need while you are away from the computer.
-4 Prioritize your downloads. Download only the files you really want first and start other downloads later. The more files you download simultaneously, the slower the files download.
-5 Try downloads at different times of the day. The more people who are downloading the same file, the slower the file downloads for everyone. If you are experiencing a slow download, try it at a different time of day when fewer people might be trying to download the same file.
-6 Install Download Accelerator. Download Accelerator is a program that optimizes your computer's download capabilities. It not only increases the speed of your downloads, it helps you manage them. When you begin downloading a file, Download Accelerator saves the file so that you can resume downloading it later if necessary. To get Download Accelerator, go to the Download website, search for Download Accelerator, click "Download Now" and follow the directions.

Samsung's game controller looks like xbox controller

The Samsung Bluetooth games controller, which is just a prototype at this point, clips-on to the Galaxy S4, allowing people to play games without using the touchscreen.
But the design of the controller raised some eyebrows because of its resemblance to Microsoft's Xbox 360 controller.Like Microsoft's device, Samsung's controller has two analogue joysticks, one in the top left and one in the bottom right. The D-Pad, in the bottom left, is marked by a cross with curved edges, just like the Xbox 360 version.
The four face buttons are set out in a diamond shape and have the same colours, in the same positions as the Xbox 360 controller. The buttons also have the same letters so both controllers feature a blue X button on the left, for example.
The similarities did not go unnoticed. One twitter user wrote: "You’d think Samsung could have at least been bothered to change the color of the buttons, right?"
Samsung has been embroiled in a series of lawsuits across the world with rival Apple. The iPhone maker has claimed that Samsung has "slavishly copied" its designs, which Samsung has responded with counter-claims that Apple has infringed on its patents.
Samsung has yet to respond to a request for a comment on the new controller's similarity to the Microsoft device.

God of War : Ascension review

Formats: PlayStation 3
Developer: Santa Monica Studio
Publisher: Sony
Age rating: PEGI 18
Released: 15 March 2013

At a time of increasing complexity in interactive storytelling and a broadening of the kind of experiences we expect games to deliver, God Of War – and it’s truck-throated protagonist in particular – are like an old-fashioned punch to the windpipe. Kratos the furious demi-god, a man defined by violence and psychologically jammed in that moment of aggressive self-belief right before a post-pub headbutt, is a wilfully unpleasant protagonist indistinguishable, dramatically speaking, from controlling a tightly balled fist through ancient Greece. It goes without saying that it’s great to have him back.
God Of War: Ascension is a prequel, hardly surprising if you consider that by the end of the God Of War III Kratos had skewered the gods of Olympus in turn like a rack of mythic barbeque ribs. “Who will he kill now?” was the obvious question, the answer now revealed to be “The past”. Ascension, then, takes place during Kratos’ service to the god of war, Ares, which is more or less irrelevant except it means that Kratos already has his defining chain weapon, the Blades of Chaos.
This is important because it’s the Blades more even than Kratos’ swaggering urge to invite the world to take it outside that define God Of War’s slick, distinctive combat. This is, sensibly, unchanged at least on the level of being able to swing firey chains about in thumping, destructive arcs. It still has the swishing quickness, the easy combos, and that sense of unsettling power that playing as a man who has the ashen remains of his murdered family bonded to his skin on a cellular level really should have.
Beneath this surface familiarity there are changes, essentially of the sort that any series instalment has to deliver to justify being a game at all. Kratos now has a whipped grapple that fixes enemies in place, or slings them skittling into crowds, or if they’re weakened triggers rending finishing moves that are as gratuitous as they are characteristically God Of War. He can also pick up enemy weapons – swords, spears, swing-for-the-bleachers hammers – that can be integrated with his existing combo sets, which adds variety, power and potentially range. And, where God Of War III had Kratos inheriting different weapons from the Olympians he forcibly ushered to heaven, here his Blades are imbued with different elemental powers – ice, electricity, and an ability to summon a big hand from the underworld (admittedly not an element at all) – which can be switched mid-fight but have less of a impact on the shape of battles.
These relatively underwhelming tweaks mean that the biggest change to the character of Ascension’s combat comes from the fact it’s now more dominated by brutal, semi-automated finishing sequences than before. Truly giant boss battles – the technically wowing kind that reduce Kratos to a pale speck meting out flesh-busting punishment in miniature while a rock-skinned Titan grinds hugely in the foreground – are few are far between, but mini-bosses are the new order of the day. Chimera of various kinds – elephant-men, snake-women, actual chimera, goats with swords – arrive regularly and demand bespoke gutting, skull-stoving and otherwise dismembering, often imaginatively using part of themselves. The effect is spectacular but also, eventually, flattening, each climax depending on an essentially identical stab-and-dodge mechanic so that soon they’re not really climaxes at all, and the only hook is seeing how the monsters are going to be turned inside out.
More successful in varying the pace are the game’s puzzles – never a prominent feature, but then Kratos has always seemed as likely to eat a crossword as patiently solve one – and the improved climbing. Kratos’ ledge-holding and grapple-swinging has been expanded so that it feels like a slightly stiffer Uncharted, a backhanded compliment that really is a compliment, especially when these swing-and-leap sections are strung together with Kratos’ new surface-surfing ability for intense, extended, one-slip-means-death traversal.
While these sequences are full of momentum and purposeful direction, Ascension’s biggest problem is that its story lacks either. The through-line of God Of War is that the mortal Kratos doesn’t just defy the gods but screams and stabs them until he gets his way. In each of the previous full-sized games Kratos is set in fatal opposition to a deity, the end goal being to give them a godly offing. Ascension is less direct and consequently less compelling,
No doubt the prequel setting is the issue, restricting the game to a fixed final destination, but the bigger question is: why? Why not call this God Of War IV and re-alive everybody so they can be killed again with better graphics? Presumably the answer is that a full sequel is being saved for PS4, but that could just as easily have been God Of War V. It’s not as though they are running short of numbers, even old-fashioned Roman ones.
One area in which Ascension goes further than any of its predecessors is online multiplayer. As far as possible this takes the third-person combat from the single-player game and sets it in a competitive context, giving us an arena brawler with a Greek flavour and upgradable hats. Significant tweaking has been done to refit the combat for balanced player-on-player bouts – where Kratos is a grunting priority-hog, much of his perceived power coming from the relative speed and strength of his attacks, to make multiplayer feasible a new system of parries and unblockable specials has been devised.
The result is that, in one-on-one fights especially, the system works, manifesting as a dance of dodges and tactfully unleashed specials that feels determined by skill rather than hack-slashing. That is, until you’re outnumbered, at which point any fight feels like a foregone, hail-of-blows conclusion, although game types that favour strategy over straightforward brawling – capture the flag, hold the bases – make this less of an issue.
This leaves Ascension as a highly-accomplished if not completely fulfilling rampage. There’s a base level of quality that hasn’t slipped from the excellent God Of War III – this looks even better, puts things onscreen that are, somehow, even bigger. But this technical muscle isn’t given the best stage on which to oil and flex, thanks to a story that simply idles the roaring engine of death that is Kratos, and keeps the series ticking over until the next, more substantial step forward.

lg-tab book

LG might not have too much luck in the world of tablets or notebooks, but it seems that they intend to do something of the situation and make good of it. LG Electronics has just announced that they will be showing off their own take on a tablet-notebook hybrid device at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) which is happening in Barcelona, Spain. Simply known as the LG Tab-Book, it will come equipped with Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in order to deliver a high speed Internet experience, enabling users to hook up to the Internet regardless of where they are. Of course, this is all theoretical, since we do know that a whole lot of its connectivity depends on the area of coverage.
The LG Tab-Book is a beauty to behold for sure, where it boasts of a hidden slide-out physical keyboard, making it a whole lot more functional compared to a conventional tablet, delivering greater levels of productivity when it comes to creating documents, spreadsheets and presentations, especially when you are on the move.
Microsoft’s Windows 8 is the operating system of choice for the LG Tab-Book, and it will be powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, sporting a precise 5-point multi-touch screen and a superb slide-out keyboard which helps differentiate it from other hybrids. Press the Auto-Sliding button and the keyboard will magically emerge from behind the screen for instant touch typing action.
Your eyes will also be most pleased with the Tab-Book’s In-Plane Switching (IPS) display, where it is said to deliver a premium picture with lifelike color expression and a wide 178-degree viewing angle.

Playstation 4 annouced

The next cycle of home console gaming (the high end side of things, of course, as Nintendo had already rolled out their Nintendo Wii U from last year onwards which frankly, was rather disappointing in terms of specifications as well as performance, once again leaning on the strength of Nintendo’s library and relatively low price point to pull it through the next round of next-gen console gaming) is set to arrive, with Sony throwing down the gauntlet with an announcement of their PlayStation 4, or PS4 for short. The PS3 has aged gracefully over the past few years of course, but it is time for the old to go, and the new to come. According to Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, “The living room is no longer the center of the PlayStation universe, the gamer is. We believe that PlayStation 4 represents a shift from thinking of a box or console.”PlayStation 4′s lead system architect Mark Cerny has mentioned that Sony, being a company that does not rest on their laurels, have already begun to work on the PS4 shortly after the release of the PlayStation 3, with the ultimate purpose of creating a console for developers, and by developers. You will find a completely updated user interface in addition to a bunch of new features that range from an updated controller to social features which cannot be found on other consoles – or at least, Sony hopes so.There will be a new and updated DualShock 4 controller, and the PS4 will carry an X86 processor, packed with an enhanced PC GPU, and 8GB of high-speed unified memory. The new DualShock 4 controller sports a touchpad (hmmm, a page from Nintendo’s book?), a share button, and a headphone jack. There is also a light bar located on the back of the controller that will help you identify different players, while a 3D camera on the console is capable of tracking controllers connected to the console.
When can you pick up a PS4? Sony cited a “holiday 2013″ date, so now would be a good time to start saving up for one when the time arrives.
